THE BIBLE MECHANIC'S PERSPECTIVE

What is “faith”?

“In God We Trust”.

Tender; “an offer or proposal made for acceptance, esp. an offer of a bid for a contract; something (as money, i.e. something [as metal currency] accepted as a medium of exchange) that may be offered in payment.”

If there is one “Christian church” doctrine that has created the most misunderstanding, dissention, confusion, chaos, deception, and a myriad of other problems involving “words”, it is the “trinity doctrine”. No matter how the trinity doctrine is “worded” (stated) by individuals, it “boils down” to a belief in three “Gods”, rather than one. [Cf. Deut.6:4 - John 10:30]

That trinity doctrine is one “system” of a myriad of systems and beliefs that range from “A to Z”, within the “church”. In essence, the “trinity doctrine” is an attempt, by humanity (mankind), to explain an unexplainable “God”, oft times referred to as the “Creator”. One word that encompasses all the myriad of systems and beliefs is the word “religion”. You, the reader, can accept or reject that last statement, conclusion, and word “definition”.

That acceptance or rejection is “theologically” known, referred to, as “free will”. However, this writer does not live in a “theological world”, rather a world that the vast majority of people consider “reality”. That “world of reality” is one in which people use these five “senses”, sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. There is also another “sense”, oft times used in that “real world”, something called intuition, “gut-feeling”, etc.

People sometimes refer to that aforementioned something, that “sixth sense”, as “conscience”. Theologically and Biblically, that conscience is oft times referred to as the “heart”. In decades past, as I pondered the “real world” and the “theological world”, this writer began to search for one word that was the link, the connection between the two “worlds” of reality and theology.

This writer had already discovered the common connection between the Bible and the U.S. Constitution. That connection, the link, the middle ground, simplistically stated whereas people can start to understand such in the “world of reality”, is this statement: “It’s all about the words folks”.

However, there was still another “world”, other than “reality” which had to be dealt with and investigated, the “theological world” of “religionists”. The result of this writer’s research, regarding such, was this statement: “It’s about all the words folks”. If someone read those two statements slowly and carefully, they should have seen, and realized, two words have been “switched”, these words being “all” and “about”.

Perhaps you are wondering, “Why the switch-r-rue”? As a teen-ager, I became confused and fed up with answers, especially by “Christian” pastors, to my real life questions. The first mistake I made was not searching out those answers for myself. The second mistake was the failure to heed the advice from the individual that initiated a religion known as “Christianity”. [Cf.Math.7:7] The third mistake was my “care-less attitude”, regarding the religion and the reality of “Christianity”.

To cut a long story short, the attitude (aka “spirit”) this writer once had, instantly changed one day in December 1969. That day was the beginning of a journey that continues this day. It was a very costly journey, in more “ways” than one. Nevertheless, that was then, this is now however; therefore the switch-r-rue of two words, all and about, in two different statements, regarding two different “worlds”.

“It’s all about the words folks” is a statement that applies to the “world of reality”, whereas the statement of “It’s about all the words folks” pertains to the “world of theology”. It is not necessary for this writer to explain the world of reality; you probably understand such via “experience”. However, the world of theology usually lacks the experience of the world of reality. “Huh”, might be your thought. [Cf. Luke 17:20-21]

One American dictionary defines theology as, “the study of God and His relations to the universe; a particular form or branch of this study”. Another dictionary defines such as, “the study of religion and of religious ideas and beliefs: esp. a branch of theology treating of God and his relation to the world; a theory or system of theology”. The “key” word, in either definition, is the word “God”.

Thus, the trinity doctrine was a (325 AD) theological attempt by “man-kind”, to explain to “humanity” (i.e. man-kind) who God is. There was however a political aspect to that aforementioned attempt as well. “God” became a go between, the middle “man” between religion and politics. Stated another way, “God” became the “scapegoat” for all the “ills”, in the “world of reality”, as well as the political “justification” to remedy those ills.

For example, “If God is such a loving God, why does He allow all the suffering in the world?” That is an excellent question! In fact, that was the very question my dad asked of me decades ago; it was a question this writer had no “real world” answer for. That question led this researcher to what I refer to now as the “systems of God”. One of those systems involves “faith”.

“It’s all about the words folks”, is “linked” to the word “faith”, as is “It’s about all the words folks”. The word “faith” is the bridge between the worlds of reality and theology, and the worlds of politics and religion, the seen and unseen. Furthermore, the word “faith” is “tied to” the word “tender” as well. Here is how Paul described Faith, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. [Heb.11:1]

Notice, “Now faith IS”; in other words present tense, not past tense, not future tense, rather the “here and now”, today - the present. Again, “It’s about all the words folks”. For example, what was, and still is, “the substance of things hoped for” when Paul wrote those words? Furthermore, what was, and still is, “the evidence of things not seen”?

One comment of many, this writer heard for decades, is this one; “The Bible is difficult to understand”. Another very common comment is this one; “The Bible is full of contradictions.” From this writer’s “real life” practical perspective, and experience, both comments are accurate and true. However, the double-edged swords of “FAITH” and “WORDOLOGY”, regarding reality and Truth, have natural and supernatural abilities. Those two “swords” will produce natural and supernatural results. [Cf.Math.8:5-13]

However, the normal and natural tendency of people is to place the Bible on a shelf and let it collect dust. Another tendency is to attend church once a week, usually on Sunday morning; after all, that is the “thing” for educated “Christians” to do. “Yours truly” did those things too; in 1970 however “my reality” began to take a different direction, but did not have the foggiest idea what that direction would be in “real life”, nor the “cost of travel” in that life.

One observation this writer made, even as a teenager, was this; as a rule, most “church” preachers are concerned about “in the sweet bye and bye”, rather than the “here and now”. However, this writer as do all Americans, “live” and function in the here and now, not the sweet bye and bye. Reality wise, would it not be smarter and wiser to be concerned about the here and now first, rather than the “sweet bye and bye” in the future?

Therefore, consider the “here and now” - now. America is now experiencing another economic “melt down”; the question is “Why”? There are numerous reasons how this writer can answer that question; there are many directions from which this “mechanic” can come from, to answer the question “Why”. The real life problem is this, you can choose to listen and believe whom, or whatever, you so desire to choose (want).

Simplistically stated, you can believe the “experts”, the leaders, in and of economics, politics, and/or religion, or consider some non-experts. This individual is not an expert or a leader, just a follower of “FAITH”, via “WORDOLOGY”. Consider the Bible sitting on your table, bookshelf, or wherever such may be, as an “engine”, be it diesel or gasoline powered.

Between the covers, and the binding of that Bible, are all the various parts (verses) that allow the book, the “engine”, to function as the inspired words of God. Stated another way, the Bible is the “engine” for anyone’s life. “Short and sweet” that last statement is a matter of acceptance or rejection by any individual. [Cf. Deut.30:15 & 19]

The vast majority of individuals, that drive a motor vehicle, turn the ignition key to the start position, and the engine of that vehicle will crank and “fire off”. Based on your previous experience of turning the key, the engine cranking, and subsequently running, one of two “thought” processes have occurred.

You assumed that engine would fire up, OR you took it for granted it would fire up. How many drivers really understand all the reasons why the engine “fires off” and runs? Conversely, how many drivers understand all the reasons why that engine will not “fire off”, such as a dead battery, or out of gas (fuel).

In a similar manner, people understand a few basics of another “engine”, the Bible. For example John 3:16, “For God so loved the world”. How about this particular “basic” folks from Romans 10:17, “So then, faith cometh by hearing”? Opps, there is that word “faith”, also the topic of the title of this article series, “What is “faith”? Whereas “faith” is a “basic” tenet of the “Christian religion”, would it not be smart and wise to figure out what or who faith really and actually is?

Nah, “let’s get real”; it is much easier for individuals to assume and/or take for granted they already know the answer to the last question. After all, “Christians” use that same approach regarding the “trinity doctrine”. However, some American “Christians” are politicians.

Have you ever heard the phrase, “backyard mechanic”? That backyard mechanic is disappearing, mostly due to computers and electronic gadgetry now used in and on motor vehicles. For example, electronic pulse sensors have replaced the “point sets” and condensers of yesteryears; electronic igniters are replacing spark plugs. Both those examples are a type of “real life” evolution.

Unfortunately, the religion called, known as, “Christianity” has very few “professional mechanics” but a whole lot of “backyard mechanics”. The backyard mechanics (preachers) are one reason for very few possessing Christians, (Truckers) but a whole lot of professing “Christians” (steering wheel holders).

Both the “preachers” and the “steering wheel holders” they preach to, or at, (congregations, aka A church, not THE church) take the Bible “parts” (verses) and “God” for granted. In addition, both of those aforementioned groups assume far too much “Biblically”, therefore this particular article series about “faith”.

Here is a larger but basic “switch-r-rue”. The majority of most Christians realize who Jesus is, but not what he is. The majority of most Christians realize what faith is, but not who faith is. Do you “get it”? Nevertheless, some Christians “know exactly” what this writer just stated, and the fullness thereof. Matthew 13:14-17 “covers”, i.e. somewhat explains this paragraph.

To those that listen to the radio program, “FROM: Liberty to freedom” and/or those who read this writers articles, one can hear and see (realize) this ex-trucker/mechanic usually “wanders all over the highway”. As I tell my wife, “There is a method to my madness”. Undoubtedly, many folks think this individual is actually “mad”, a real-life “Nutcase”.

Why is there a tendency for this individual to wander all over the highway? Simplistically stated, the Bible is like an engine. An engine will run if a spark plug wire is off, or if a fuel filter is “clogged”. Gas and/or fuel mileage (mpg) “drops off” when the air filter becomes dirty. In other words, the engine will run, but not the “way” it was designed to do. [Cf. John 14:6]

Therefore as a writer, and a radio “personality”, I attempt to use all the parts available, in order that people might start to think, and hopefully start to understand some items. Rather than “specialize” and “spiritualize” first, I usually attempt to approach topics and issues from a “general” and “real life” perspective. For example, “grammatically”, thus far, this article is “written” from a “first person” and “here and now” perspective.

Therefore, any “professional English expert” could take this article apart “structurally and grammatically”. Ironically, those same “professional English experts” (and other “experts”) fail to apply their expertise to the writings of the Bible, stated in this manner, “It’s about all the words folks”. For example, the “real life” and practical reason why Paul stated, “So then, faith cometh by hearing...” Could it be possible that common sense and reality have been “thrown out the window”, replaced by the intellect, the understanding, the “wisdom” of educated men and women?

Regardless, this individual “The Bible Mechanic”, has an extremely important tool in his “tool box”, a specialty tool. That “specialty tool”

“WORDOLOGY”, is a product and a result of “FAITH”. Thus far, you will not find the word of “WORDOLOGY” in any English or American dictionary; nevertheless, that “tool” is there.

In addition, you will be able to find the two aspects of “WORDOLOGY”, those being “Wordology” and “wordology”, on and within the pages of any Bible. In fact and Truth, the method of “WORDOLOGY”, was used, and can be found on and within, this nation’s Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution, just to cite two documents!

Is your curiosity aroused? If not, then you are a narrow and/or a closed-minded individual, someone who has not experienced all the various aspects of the supernatural reality of “FAITH”! [Cf. John 3:6] Nevertheless, you are still a “religious” individual. A religious individual can be a “Godly” or a “godly” man or woman. In the last statement, who or what will be their “GOD”, or God, or god, are the bottom line questions; the answers brought about the present day economic crisis. [Cf. Math.6:24] Incidentally, a “religious” individual is not necessarily a “Christian” individual.

This writer is convinced, for numerous and various reasons, the final physical roadblock, the last “stronghold” to be torn down regarding the supernatural reality and practical application of Biblical “FAITH”, is the “Christian” doctrine of an alleged “trinity”. [Cf.1st Cor.10:3-6] For the record, FAITH transcends the seen and unseen, the natural and supernatural.

Also for the record, economically all is not “doom and gloom” either. The major “phony” doctrine that needs to “hit the road” back to hell, for the “real life prosperity” of GOD to be understood and accepted by people is the continued acceptance and belief of a humanistic “triune Godhead”.

Are you still reading? If you are, here is the next question; are you seeing anything yet? Are you starting to understand some “things”, such as the sources of motivation for people yet? If not, here is a good place to start. The Holy Spirit gave this individual some “Wordology” a few years ago. The following is a “capsulated” inspired by GOD statement; “Faith is MY supernatural Word for man’s word labor”.

“Yeah, but the Bible says, so then, faith cometh by hearing, not by seeing”, could be what you are thinking. Come on folks, and all you “Christian” preachers and politicians, it is time to “get real”, before it “really” becomes too late. [Cf.Gen.6:3 & Rev.9:4] “Our” alleged governmental representatives (the politicians not states-men) have been literally, starting in 1913, and physically ever since then, selling out the “spirit” and the “soul” of America the nation and America the country.

Notice reader, “Now faith IS”; in other words the present tense, not the past tense (was), not the future tense (will be), but “is” the “here and now”, i.e. today. Nonetheless, what was, and still is “the substance of things hoped for” when Paul wrote those words? [Heb.11:1] Furthermore, what was, and still is, “the evidence of things not seen”? Clang, clang; do you see and hear something like a bell of Liberty for today? (Cf. Lev. 25:10)

This paragraph will be an example of this type of “Wordology”. Biblically, “labor” was/is divided into these two categories, “works” and “fruit”. Those categories apply to the seen and natural “real life world”. Most people, especially “Christians” fail to realize that the word “fruit” was/is Biblically divided into “good fruit” and “bad fruit”. [Cf. Math.7:17] Good fruit and bad fruit are the “products”, the attitudes, the “spirit”, and the results of the unseen and supernatural world. [Cf.Math.7:21-23]

The following sentence is more “Wordology”. An individuals “works” and/or “fruit” are the physical manifestations of the labor of men and women; however, the unseen realm of the “spirits” is the real “producer” of “good fruit” or “bad fruit”. Did you bother to see (read) what Jesus said in verse 23 of Matthew 7? Did - do you - get a message from THE Word?

Most likely, you never bothered to take the time to read those few verses. There is no natural instant Bible understanding; an effort is required from an individual, if not from you, then some other individual. Some effort is required to “make” instant coffee, pudding, instant oatmeal, etc. So why is it, some people expect, or even expect other people, to become an automatic (instant) Christian naturally and immediately?

This writer apologies folks; he forgot “the Bible says” faith comes by hearing - not by reading. Incidentally, it requires a heck of a lot less effort to hear, than what it does to read. This is what Jesus said in verse 23 of Matthew 7; “I never knew you; depart from me ye that work iniquity”.

Did you realize the crux of those Words is not about if the people knew Jesus, but rather Jesus did not know the people. Thus, the question becomes “why not”. One word answers that question, “iniquity”. Incidentally, that one word (iniquity) is why America now has an “economic crisis”. Furthermore, there is one of those “systems of God” in that single verse.

This type of “wordology” is what the vast majority of individuals, and most “Christians”, use in politics and religion. That/this “wordology” stops at our five natural senses. Here is some evidence; “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. [Heb.11:1]

However, this “Wordology” is the gate, [Cf.Math.7:14] the door, [Cf. Rev. 3:20] to that previously mentioned “sixth sense”, oft times called “conscience”. Will the wordology of the following two Bible verses, and the words in bold type “rattle” your conscience, and consideration of the realm of your “spirit” (attitude)?

“And he said; I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end shall be, for they are a very forward generation, children in whom is no faith”
                                                                                   Deuteronomy 32:20

“Behold his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith.” [Cf. Romans 1:17]

                                                                                     Habakkuk 2:4

This writer will end part one of this series with a personal observation. The preceding two Bible verses are the only two verses in the Old Testament where the word “faith” is used, “translated” from the “original” languages. Notice that there will come a “generation” in whom there is no faith. America’s political systems have been “producing” that forthcoming generation since 1947.

When Paul wrote, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”, his words were his personal, physical, and Spiritual fulfillment of this prophecy, from one of the Old Testament law books, “the just shall live by his faith”. Just like Paul, you can read the “engine”, but do you see, hear, recognize, and identify ALL the “parts”, or merely some of the parts?

“The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil, danger, and expense of treasure and blood. It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men."
